Symmetries in the Interacting Boson Model

چکیده
We study the energy level statistics of the states in U(5) and O(6) dynamical symmetries of the interacting boson model and the high spin states with backbending in U(5) symmetry. In the calculations, the degeneracy resulting from the additional quantum number is eliminated manually. The calculated results indicate that the finite boson number N effect is prominent. When N has a value close to a realistic one, increasing the interaction strength of subgroup O(5) makes the ∗Corresponding author 1 statistics vary from Poisson-type to GOE-type and further recover to Poisson-type. However, in the case of N → ∞, they all tend to be Poisson-type. The fluctuation property of the energy levels with backbending in high spin states in U(5) symmetry involves a signal of shape phase transition between spherical vibration and axial rotation. Tests and applications of self-consistent cranking in the interacting boson model
The self-consistent cranking method is tested by comparing the cranking calculations in the interacting boson model with the exact results obtained from the SU~3! and O~6! dynamical symmetries and from numerical diagonalization. The method is used to study the spin dependence of shape variables in the sd and sdg boson models. When realistic sets of parameters are used, both models lead to simil...
متن کاملInteracting Boson Model of Collective Octupole States
We discuss the problem of describing low-lying collective negative-parity states within the framework of the interacting boson model. We suggest that a simultaneous description of quadrupole and octupole states in nuclei be done in terms of the group U(16), which includes fand p-bosons in addition to the usual dand s-bosons. We analyze the dynamical symmetries associated with the rotational lim...
متن کاملQuasidynamical symmetry in an interacting boson model phase transition.
The apparent persistence of symmetry in the face of strong symmetry-breaking interactions is examined in a many-boson model. The model exhibits a transition between two phases associated with U(5) and O(6) symmetries, respectively, as the value of a control parameter progresses from 0 to 1. The remarkable fact is that, in spite of strong mixing of the symmetries for intermediate values of the c...
متن کاملA pr 1 99 8 Intrinsic structure of two - phonon states in the interacting boson model
A general study of excitations up to two-phonon states is carried out using the intrinsic-state formalism of the Interacting Boson Model (IBM). Spectra and transitions for the different dynamical symmetries are analyzed and the correspondence with states in the laboratory frame is established. The influence of multi-phonon states is discussed. The approach is useful in problems where the comple...
متن کاملWhat can we learn from the Interacting Boson Model in the limit of large boson numbers ?
Over the years, studies of collective properties of medium and heavy mass nuclei in the framework of the Interacting Boson Approximation (IBA) model have focused on finite boson numbers, corresponding to valence nucleon pairs in specific nuclei. Attention to large boson numbers has been motivated by the study of shape/phase transitions from one limiting symmetry of IBA to another, which become ...
متن کاملمحاسبه ترازهای انرژی پایین ایزوتوپهای زوج-زوج کادمیوم، قلع و تلور در چارچوب مدل بوزونی بر همکنشدار (IBM-1)
The dynamical symmetries in even-even nuclei were investigated by Arima and Iachello in 1974, and led to a model called ;ampquotInteracting Boson Model, (IBM)". In this article we have outlined some basic ideas used in IBM-1 and carried out the calculations for low laying energy levels of even-even isotopes Cd, Sn and Te via PHINT code. The calculations for energy and quadra pole moment t...
